Politecnico Di Milano

Established in 1863, Politecnico di Milano is one the most outstanding technical universities in Europe, and the largest Italian university in the field of Engineering, Architecture and Design, with nearly 45,000 students.

The university complies with the framework of the Bologna Process, whose mission is to standardise the quality of higher-education qualifications across all universities in Europe.

The University of Milano is a member of The Idea League, which works towards strengthening a group of 5 leading universities in Europe by connecting them to create inspiring innovative opportunities. The Idea League converges the students with ideas giving them a scope to handle challenges in education, research and innovation, by creating a platform for sharing their knowledge, experiences and resources. The University of Milan has two main campuses in the city of Milan in Italy, where majority of the research and teaching activities are undertaken, with the campus in Città Studi, also called as Leonardo Campus, in Milan being the headquarters. The University has 5 more affiliated campuses in the Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna regions.

The Polytechnic University of Milan offers undergraduate, graduate and master’s courses, for a 3-year, 2-year and 1-year tenure respectively. The University also offers PhD programs in the fields of engineering, architecture and design. Majority of the courses are in English, and some in German and Spanish, to make them available, attractive and eligible for international students. The University has a count of students from almost 100 countries from across the world.

The University’s Exchange program has collaborations with several foreign universities, by virtue of its participation in the ENTRÉE Network [European Network for Training and Research in Electrical Engineering], which is an exchange program for the students of Electrical Engineering between 18 universities. The exchange programs are organised in 12 departments in 4 schools devoted to education and research. The University is also a Member of it is a member of Top Industrial Managers for Europe (TIME) network.

The Polytechnique University of Milan collaborates closely with Polytechnique University of Turin to form a conglomeration named ‘The Alta Scuola Politecnica’ which encourages talented students to nurture interdisciplinary capabilities for leading and promoting innovation. This runs in parallel to the two-year graduate programs.

The University’s rankings are something to reckon with, being ranked 20th in Engineering and Technology by the QS World University Rankings, 6th in Design, 9th in Civil and Structural Engineering and 9th in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering and 11th in Architecture.
