CA Foscari University of Venice
Ca' Foscari University of Venice, a public university in Venice founded in 1868, is housed in the Venetian Gothic palace of Ca' Foscari, from which it takes its name. It is a centre for free scientific research and higher education.
The institute became a university in 1968 and has been a Member of the European Higher Education Area, bound by its principles and instruments. The University enjoys a statutory, regulatory, scientific, didactic, organisational, financial and accounting autonomy.
Ca Foscari University has eight departments in the disciplines of Economics, Philosophy and cultural heritage, Management, Environmental science, Computer science and statistics, Molecular science and Nano systems, Linguistic and Comparative Cultural studies, Humanities and Asian and Mediterranean African studies.
The University promotes free research activities, by providing necessary tools and appropriate incentives. As part of the Res-Urbis project, Ca' Foscari University believes in an economy that wastes nothing and this is testified by their patent to produce plastic from organic domestic solid waste, the invention in Treviso. The Research component of the University of Ca Foscari is so strong and productive that it is the cynosure for international students; the National Agency for the Evaluation of University Research Systems [ANVUR] has ranked Ca’ Foscari as the third best public university in Italy for their quality of research in 2018.
The University is also known as one among the best-known universities in Italy, ranking 5th in 2017 out of 89 universities and 3rd best in the department of economics. The QS World University Ranking by subject has placed the Ca’ Foscari University among the top 100 universities in the world for modern languages, among the top 150 in the world for humanities, and among the top 200 in the world for economics and management.
