Bologna Business School a research university in Bologna founded in 1088 by an organised guild of students is the oldest university in the world as well as one of the leading academic institutions in Italy and Europe. The Bologna Business School has its Headquarters at Villa Guastavillani, one of the most beautiful villas in Bologna.

Bologna Business School sprouted from the Alma Graduate School in its efforts to strengthen its international reach. This was done by universalising English to attract global students, by holding regular conferences, summer school, short-term courses, fellowships, exchange programs and last but not least full professional Master programs.

Campuses

BBS has campuses in Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini in Italy and a branch in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It also has a school of excellence named Collegio Superiore di Bologna. An associate publisher of the University of Bologna is the Bononia University Press.

Affiliates and other institutions

  • Mulino, one the most interesting reference points in Italy for the political and cultural debate and has established important editorial relationships in Italy and abroad. The il Mulino publishing house (Società editrice il Mulino) founded in 1954 represents one of the most relevant Italian publishers.
  • Research projects focusing on the educational institutions and the political system in Italy were responsible for the establishment of the Istituto Carlo Cattaneo.
  • The Collegio Superiore is the Centre of Excellence inside the University of Bologna aims at promoting students' merit through dedicated learning programmes. It was founded in 1998 as Collegio d'Eccellenza. It combines with the Institute for Advanced Studies as part of the Institute for Higher Studies.
  • The Collegio Superiore offers an additional educational path to students enrolled in a degree programme at the University of Bologna, providing specialized courses as part of an interdisciplinary framework.
  • The Collegio Superiore maintains high standards and expects its students to secure high marks in their degree programme and additional courses to remain eligible to be members of the college. And being members of the College gives them the additional benefit of scholarship and assistance of a personal tutor and free accommodation at the Residence for Higher Study.

Bologna Business School is ranked in the 201-300 Universities in the world by ARWU World in 2019, 168th in 2020 by The World, 116th rank in 2020 by the USNWR Global.

The 2021 QS World University Rankings has ranked Bologna Business School at 160 and at 69th (1st in Italy) with reference to academic reputation. It is also ranked 84th among the world's top 100 universities for graduate employability.

The 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings has placed the Bologna School 168th globally. The Impact Rankings of 2020 measures the universities' commitment to sustainable development in compliance with the UN 2030 Agenda and gives it 1st place in Europe and 6th in the world.

Nationally, in 2020 Bologna topped Italy's main ranking of large public universities (> 40,000 students) for the eleventh year in a row, produced by the Italian Center for Social Investment Studies.
