NABA- NEW ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS [NABA]
The Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti [the New Academy of Fine Arts] established in 1980 is a private university in Milan, Lombardy, with a second campus in Rome. The Campus in Rome is located 200 meters from the Garbatella metro station, is spread over about 3700 square meters.
The Milan campus consists of 13 buildings spread across 17000 square meters. The Campus houses several specialized laboratories equipped with modern equipment where students can carry out their projects and refine their techniques.
Academics
NABA has nearly 3000 students, including some from other countries, participates in the Erasmus Programme.
NABA’s highly skilled professors are also practicing professionals of art and design. They come from leading design and architecture studios, fashion companies, advertising and marketing agencies, and arts and culture institutes. They bring real life experiences into the classroom to make it an inspiring learning environment. Hence, they hold the key to the success of NABA’s programs.

NABA students can benefit from the different spaces and classrooms on campus:
- Classroom Computers is a space in NABA equipped with 30 computers and reserved for students for their personal exercises and preparation of work. The seats in the classrooms are connected to the NABA intranet and the internet. A press service can be accessed from the stations. NABA also houses Studio Classrooms where students can study during the interval time. NABA also has common rooms with open access where students can have snacks in between lessons. Classrooms are equipped with microwave ovens.
- NABA’s Library has over 12,000 volumes, 50 magazine subscriptions and 400 DVDs related to the different areas of study, all available to students who can enjoy them in a quiet environment or borrow them for home. The library also houses the theses of all its ex-students.
- NABA students have free access to important online resources that include VOGUE ARCHIVE, EBSCO ART & ARCHITECTURE, a vast database of e-books, full text and articles on art, architecture and design and many more.
- NABA gives a lot of importance to English language and improving the student’s language proficiency, by allocating training credits for language English skills. NABA conforms to the European Common Framework for English Proficiency, while giving credits.
- In addition to the regular courses, NABA has short intensive courses in English language lasting 2 weeks.
- NABA’s high-speed network of fibre optics connects its students in virtual space of more than 200 locations in its campuses. They can access App-based MyNABA Intranet an internal communication platform where they can access the teaching programs, course and laboratory schedules, voicemail alerts, the daily menu of the campus canteen and all the necessary information for student life.

Rankings and accreditations
- NABA is unique among all Italian art and design academies. It was the first and private academy accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR).
- NABA’s First and second level academic degrees are legally recognized in Europe and the world over.
- In 1994 the Nuova Accademia received one of the forty "Ambrogino" certificates of civic merit awarded each year by the Comune of Milan.
- In 2008 NABA also began hosting a “node”, or center linked to the University of Plymouth’s Planetary-Collegium research platform, offering various PhD programs in the arts and technology.
- The NABA approach has received high accolades from third-party authorities. Magazines such as Frieze, Flash Art, and Kaleidoscope have ranked NABA as a top design school. Domus magazine named it as one of Europe’s top schools of architecture and design. NABA was included in Frame Publishers, Master class among the 30 World's Leading Graduate Schools in Product Design (2012), Fashion Design (2013) and Interior Design (2014).
- NABA is listed by the Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca, the Italian ministry of education, as a ‘legally recognized academy’ in the AFAM classification of schools of music, art and dance that are considered equivalent to a traditional university.
- The Campus has an in-house bar and restaurant service, The Corner.
