Inp Toulouse- National Polytechnic Institute
Founded in 1229, Toulouse Institute of Technology (also called National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse or INPT), one of the oldest universities in Europe is a French university cluster of seven schools and 17 research laboratories in Toulouse, under the University of Toulouse. It is a member of Institut au service du spatial, de ses applications et technologies and is a major institute to provide higher education and research facilities in Europe.
Academics
With 6 campuses in Toulouse and 1 in Tarbes and 17 research laboratories, INP Toulouse offers you master's degrees and Ph.D. and an opportunity to study and do research at one of the most dynamic and multidisciplinary university. With an overall strength of 115, 000 students, the University of Toulouse has been awarded by the French government for the quality and diversity of its academic activities and the excellence of its sweeping research activities.
The research at Toulouse INP relies on approximately 700 researchers grouped in the 17 laboratories associated with the CNRS, INRA and other universities in Toulouse. The two main areas of research are Physical science and Engineering for Energy, Climate, Digitalisation and Materials and Life Sciences and Engineering for Agronomy, Agribusiness and Environment. Its main research activities comprise Energy, Transport network, Aeronautics and Space, Material transformation, Data processing, Automatism, Industrial Security, Mechanical engineering and Chemical engineering and Environment, Health, Food, Agronomy .
Though it has international cooperation programs and projects with more than 60 countries, INPT is working on strengthening its links with many more universities and research organisations.
Toulouse INP is a member of the federal University Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées, which, has joined forces with 4 European universities to build a European University around the theme of Space in all its aspects (science, engineering, social sciences and humanities, patents and innovation, science & medicine, art & culture).
Since May 11, Toulouse INP has implemented a Business Continuity Planning in all of its components.
Rankings and Awards
Toulouse INP stands fifth on the institutional level for France in the U-MULTIRANK 2020 rankings, is a world ranking of universities. It published its ranking which counts more than 1,700 universities from 92 countries.
In 2019, 21 doctoral students were rewarded for the scientific excellence of their work, the originality of their thesis subject.
Each year, the Toulouse INP research commission awards the Léopold Escande thesis prize to 15% of the best theses defended.
