Leonard De Vinci Paris- Esilv
The Leonard de Vinci Engineering School (ESILV) is a five-year engineering school in Paris, France. It was placed 10th among ‘post-bac’ French engineering schools in the 2010 Le Point rankings. It is fully accredited to award the title of "ingénieur" by the French Commission of Engineering Titles. The director of the school is Professor Michel Bernadou.
ESILV is part of the "Pôle universitaire Léonard-de-Vinci", which promotes interdisciplinary collaboration between departments and is based on the values of multiculturalism, innovation and good sportsmanship.
The Léonard de Vinci Group is a conglomerate of three schools, viz. EMLV (Business School), ESILV (Engineering School) and IIM (School of Web Design and Multimedia).
The ESILV mission is to train professionals in mastering the use of new technologies – particularly the IT tools in advanced applications of design, production, computer communication, and management. The ESILV meets the great challenges of the contemporary world: the evolution of businesses, the globalization and the creation of new professions.
The ESILV is composed of four departments
- Financial engineering
- New energies
- Computer science li>
- Computational mechanics li>
ESILV offers majors in the area of modelling and numerical simulation, computer networks and databases, new energies, new information technologies, computational mechanics, and financial engineering.
EligibilityEligibility to join ESILV is high school graduation, i.e. a French Baccalauréat. Application is made during the senior year through Concours Avenir. Students may also enter after the Classe Préparatoire aux Grandes Écoles and spend three years in the school or after a Licence and spend two years in the school.
Academics
ESILV offers courses in mathematics, scientific computation, computer science, mechanical engineering and financial engineering, from among others. ESILV has a partner school in EMLV, where some of its students take classes marketing and management. Their courses include two six-month internships with industrial partners, which gives them hands-on experience on the real-world practices.
Located in the heart of the business center, La Defense in Paris, ESILV has partnered with many industries and research institutes to provide professional networking for its students, which churns out multi-disciplinary engineers well-tuned to the current global economy.
ESILV’s exchange programs at the graduate and undergraduate levels complements it’s mission of giving its students a broad outlook of the industry needs. ESILV’s philosophy of "learn by doing" focuses on the application of mathematics and computer science in technology and industry, thus giving them an opportunity to widen their career opportunities and choices..
The Engineering School of Leonard de Vinci brings the future realms of research and teaching into its academics, by having collaborations with industries, vis-à-vis projects, internships, numerous instructors coming from the business world. ESILV’s schooling is adapted to meet the current demands of the industries, enabling its students to build their own professional activities through direct contact with upcoming companies. This has also made it possible for a major chunk of its alumni to join the industrial work-force as multi-disciplinary engineers.
