Jonkoping University

Jonkoping University is a private university located in the city of Jonkoping, about five minutes’ walk from the Central Station in Smaland, Sweden. JU is a member of the European University Association (EUA) and The Association of Swedish Higher Education, SUHF.

JU has around 10,000 students, of which 1,500 are international students. The university is one of the top universities in international student exchange and among the best in Sweden in terms of attracting international students.

Jonkoping University offers courses and study programmes in Swedish and English languages, in the fields of health, nursing, social work, education, media and communication studies, technology, science and engineering, economics and law and informatics. Many courses at all the three levels of Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral programs have English as the medium of instruction.

The university is entitled to issue licentiate and doctoral degrees in the research domains of humanities and social sciences, Industrial Production, Machine design, Material and manufacturing processes. JU’s emphasis for research is on entrepreneurship, ownership and business renewal, technical expertise and know-how to small- and medium-sized enterprises, the conditions for education and communication, and health, care and social work.

JU offers all its programs through its four schools, viz. Jonkoping International Business School (JIBS), School of Education and Communication, Jonkoping School of Engineering and the School of Health and Welfare, and JIBS is the only institution in Sweden, accredited by EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) and AACSB.

JU, as a member of SiSP- Swedish Incubators and Science Parks, is a partner of Jonkoping Science Park, which provides support for the start-up, development and growth of business ventures.
